Kylie Blessing started playing with Octane and OC Beach when she was in only 5th grade. Her love of the game and work ethic helped her qualify and compete at three different USA Jr Beach National Championships located in Florida, and California. She also became the starting setter at Portville Central her freshman year and led the team to a state championship that year! Kylie played in three state championship games, winning two, earning All-Tournament honors in two, and was MVP of the CCAA League twice! Kylie is the all-time leading Portville player with 3,639 total assists for her career! Kylie's outstanding club, beach and high school career earned her an offer at division 1 Niagara University where she currently starts and has already surpassed 1,000 career assists in college! Kylie attributes her time with Octane and OC Beach as "some of the best memories", and "crucial to her ability to play at the D1 level".
Ava Haynes started playing OC Beach Volleyball at 10 years old and Octane at 12. Ava, as the oldest of three sisters, helped mentor other players throughout her years in the programs. Ava qualified and played in four different USA Jr Beach National Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. She started and played on three straight NY State Champion teams at Portville, and acted as Captain her junior and senior seasons. Ava was the MVP of the 2023 State Championship game. Ava credits her time at Octane and on the Riverside Beach Courts as "some of the best of her years in Portville". Ava says she "loved her time playing as the Big Sis in the "Big Sis Lil Sis" OC Beach Volleyball tournaments". She started off playing in three Big Sis LIl Sis tournaments as a Lil Sis, then mentored younger players as a Big Sis the last three years in high school. Ava ended her impressive high school career with over 1,132 digs, and 951 kills.
Beth Miller is the only Portville Central School athlete to ever win the Gatorade Player of the Year award as the state's best player. Beth was a two-time NY State MVP at the State Championships in 2017 and 2018. Beth was one of the original members of OC Beach Volleyball when it began, and played for Octane Volleyball since she was 14. Beth says her experience with OC Beach and Octane was what helped her become not only the dominating player she was, but taught her to "excel at all skills in life". Beth is the all-time kills leader at Portville Central School with 1,353.
Courtney Scanlon was one of the original members of the Octane Volleyball Club. Courtney was part of the first teams when Kelly Unverdorben created the club. Courntey was a dominant player winning MVP at the NY State Championships in 2012 while leading her high school team to an undefeated season, never dropping a single set. Courtney led her Octane team to the USA Jr National Championships in Columbus, OH after helping her team win a bid at the regional qualifier. Courtney has maintained a relationship with Coach Kelly and has begun coaching herself.
Tori Unverdorben starting playing for Octane and OC Beach when she was 10 years old. Tori was a staple at the Riverside Volleyball Courts where she became one of the best beach players the area has known. Tori qualified and played at the USA Jr Beach National Championships every year since she was 12, playing in Huntington Beach CA, Siesta Key and Fort Lauderdale FL. Tori ended her high school career as the all-time leader in digs with 1,274 and finished second all-time in kills with 1,143. Tori credits Octane and OC Beach with being some of the most important things in her life growing up.
Avaree Kellert starting playing for Octane and OC Beach when she was only 10 years old. She was one of the best beach players to ever play at OC Beach, and now plays beach volleyball for Liberty University. Avaree with Tori Unverdorben went undefeated at the USA Jr Beach National Championships in two days of pool play going 9-0. They lost in the 2nd round of the gold bracket to the eventual national champions. Avaree played in four USA National Championships over the years. Avaree credits OC Beach with helping her become the player and person she is now.
